Kids : Summer Wrap Up - 2009
Posted by Mike Hammer on 2009/8/20 6:00:00 (54 reads)

Like you did not know - it was a busy summer for the kids. Ashley spent Ashley spent the majority of her time as a counselor/life guard at "Thousand Oaks Ranch" down in Corsicana. Paul spent 3 weeks at the camp - one as a camper and the other two as a volunteer. Both he and Wes played 7-on-7 (kinda like flag football) for their school Hebron.

Wow, has another school year gone? While our family experienced a tremendous loss in the fall, the kids had a great year overall. Ashley had a fantastic Freshman year at MICA; the boys had a successful year in school and sports. Somehow, Amy and I have remained sane during all the flux.

Mike & Amy : From Heights to Depths

We had an eventful weekend. First, my grandmother turned 97 on Friday and all her children converged on her in good ol Huntsville, AL. Wish I could have been there, but a quick drive from Texas was not possible. Friday was also homecoming for our local High School where Wes plays football - they won and Wes had a beautiful 25 yard carry.

Ashley flew into town on Saturday to see her brother Paul get baptized on Sunday. It was a great moment for our family. Paul is an 8th grader and will turn 14 next month. His full name is Jame Paul - James after my grandfather and Paul after Amy's. It was one of the happiest moments of my life.

Sad to say, our summer was not as busy as in the past. While we find ourselves with a bit more time on our hands, we do miss seeing our boys play baseball. Wes called it quits after the spring season at Hebron while Paul made the call as the summer season was nearing its end.

Ashley has developed her own website for her art - Click Here.

A few years ago, I grabbed the url www.hebronplayers.com to give Hebron athletes a url where they could post online resumes for prospective schools. It is currently being used for the football booster club. In the same spirit, I grabbed a new url www.dfwplayers.com. It currently has Wes' athletic resume but will one day host a service for local athletes.
