Like you did not know - it was a busy summer for the kids. Ashley spent Ashley spent the majority of her time as a counselor/life guard at "Thousand Oaks Ranch" down in Corsicana. Paul spent 3 weeks at the camp - one as a camper and the other two as a volunteer. Both he and Wes played 7-on-7 (kinda like flag football) for their school Hebron.
Ashley started her summer off with being in a wedding for one of her best friends Kelly Mines. San Marcus/Austin was the location of the big event with about a week of activities for Ash. I guess if you are going to let you little girl (not so little anymore) go to Baltimore for college a week long trip to Austin w/o you is a breeze. A few weeks later and she was off to camp where she had a blast. That gave her about a week long visit with us before heading back to east coast for school at MICA.
Paul finished his baseball career this spring/summer deciding to hang up the cleats for good. He had a blast playing 7-on-7 with his friends who are headed to Hebron as Freshman. They won a tournament and came in second at a few qualifying for the state tournament along the way where they came in 3rd. Paul played QB and line backer which are his positions this fall on the Freshman team.
Wes' summer was a bit different this year. Normally, he does the summer workouts for football and runs summer track while playing a little 7-on-7. However, as he enters his Sr. year, he felt the need to focus more on football and less on track. The team struggled at times but won the last tournament they were in which also qualified them for the state tournament. I got to travel with him and we had a great time but they did not place. While Wes did not run but one race over the summer (100m where he ran a 10.7) he did coach for Lake Cites and loved it. He then traveled to San Antonio with two other buddies who also coached for the state track meet. It was the first time I had not gone on the state trip with him but he, Bryce and Chad had a blast coaching the kids (and stayed out of trouble).
