Mike & Amy : From Heights to Depths
Posted by Mike Hammer on 2008/10/13 18:50:00 (243 reads)

We had an eventful weekend. First, my grandmother turned 97 on Friday and all her children converged on her in good ol Huntsville, AL. Wish I could have been there, but a quick drive from Texas was not possible. Friday was also homecoming for our local High School where Wes plays football - they won and Wes had a beautiful 25 yard carry.

Ashley flew into town on Saturday to see her brother Paul get baptized on Sunday. It was a great moment for our family. Paul is an 8th grader and will turn 14 next month. His full name is Jame Paul - James after my grandfather and Paul after Amy's. It was one of the happiest moments of my life.

Mike & Amy : Trying Something New

Yesterday was a fine day. It started with taking Wes to the Physical Therapist to work on his hand. I then get a call from Amy informing me that Paul has gotten a migraine. The weather here was in great flux Mon/Tue - 70 to snow is about 24 hours. So, I worked from home and around 4pm I decided to participate in the Democratic primary. First, I have never voted in a primary. Second, I typically vote Republican though I am an Independent. It was very exciting for me.

Bill was a the smartest person I've met. He had a love for life, family and God that was impressive. The only thing that would ever come in the way of the before mention was his love for Auburn. From "The Tennessean"............
Passed away on April 6, 2007. Dr. Thomason earned a Civil Engineering Degree from Auburn University, a Master of Religious Education and a Doctor of Education from Southwest Baptist Theological Seminary.

Mike & Amy : Summer Wrapup 06
Posted by Mike Hammer on 2006/10/17 0:45:00 (200 reads)

Summer was a blast for us all. It ended with the traditional “Hammerfest” - a week long trip to Mississippi with grandma and all the cousins. This year mom and dad decided that they and the 5 grand kids would spend the majority of the time at a lake house. Everyday was filled with swimming, skiing and tubing. We don’t know how many years this tradition will carry on, but I know the kids will regret it when it’s over.

Mike & Amy

The past few months have been filled with great highs and lows. I continue to be proud of my family. Besides being wonderful people, each kid has unique talents that make me beam with joy. Ashley blew it out in school this year and devoted herself to her art work. She started her first job (one where you fill out a W2) this year and did such great work for them. She raised $1000 to attend a volunteer work project in Philly – she will be gone for about 2 weeks in June.
